SARA Café Welcomes Tara West!

taraSC: Welcome, Tara! When did you join SARA and for what reason?

TW:  I joined SARA 13 years ago. Back then the publishing industry was different. I joined because I’d just written my first romance novel and wanted help with publishing. That book was trashed, btw. LOL!

SC:  What sub-genre of romance stories do you write?

TW: I write in many genres including YA paranormal and fantasy, adult paranormal and fantasy, and new adult romance.

SC: What about the romance genre appeals to you?

TW: I love HEAs.

SC: So you consider yourself a romantic?

TW: Absolutely. I am married to an awesome, supportive husband, so I can’t help myself.

SC: He sounds wonderful. What are your ultimate goals as a writer?

TW: To continue making a living off what I love.

SC:  If you could have any actor/actress cast as the hero/heroine of your latest work, who would you choose and why?

TW: I would have Zooey Deschanel as Ash because she’s cute and spunky and perfect for my Divine and Dateless series.

SC: A fabulous choice! She’s great. Do you have a writing routine?  What does it involve?

TW: Yes. I do most of my writing every morning and every night when I am most creative. I set a goal of at least a thousand words per day.

SC:  Do you have any writing superstitions?

TW: No, but I do believe in saving my file in many places, because I’m terrified my house will be robbed or my computer will crash.

SC:  I think all writers worry about their work disappearing.  But better to err on the side of caution. What do you do when you’re not writing?  Do you have any hidden talents?

TW: I homeschool my kiddo, help take care of my sick mom, moderate a 45K member advocacy site for people with thyroid disease, design book covers for a few author friends, and love going for walks with my dogs. In the summer, I enjoy camping and fishing with the family.

SC: Wow, you’re busy. What’s your favorite part of the writing process?

TW: My favorite part is when I finally figure out a snag in the plot.

SC:  What would happen if you didn’t write?

TW: I guess I’d do graphic design full-time and do a lot more reading, but I’d go crazy if these stories in my head didn’t get out.

SC:  How do you know when your research is done?

TW: Is it ever done?

SC:  Good point. Name one thing you absolutely can’t write about.

TW: Kids being tortured or murdered.

SC:  Me neither. Name one of the challenges you had writing or as an author and how you met that challenge.

TW: My biggest challenge was writing a historical fantasy series. I have been researching this particular moment in history for about fifteen years. At first, it was just a hobby, but then I decided to write books centered in that era. That’s when my hobby became more of an obsession, and I was terrified I’d get a detail wrong. I kept stalling these books, and finally enough fans and friends started bugging me about it. I had to get over my fears and just finish the books.

SC: I think as writers we all get scared, especially when we’re perfectionists and don’t allow ourselves to make mistakes.  I know that’s one of my biggest problems. But that’s what we learn from!  Thank you so much, Tara! And best of luck with your writing!

Another SARA Sighting!

SARAs Willa Blair, Patricia Walters-Fisher, Laurie LeClair, Laurie Olerich, Roe Valentine and Teri Wilson signed their books today at the Barnes & Noble at the Shops at La Cantera here in San Antonio, TX.  We had a great turnout!  It was fun to see so many fans, friends and family supporting their favorite authors.

What a great way to get an early start on Valentine’s Day!

Released! For the Love of Hades by Sasha Summers

Another release this year by SARA Sasha Summers!

FortheLoveofHades_Sasha_FrontCoverquotefinal-682x1024

Hades, God of Death, has no heart. Persephone is determined to prove otherwise…

Hades, the Lord of the Underworld, has no patience for living things or his Olympian brethren. His purpose is order, administering justice to those who enter his realm, and keeping the balance decreed by the Fates. Meeting Persephone sways his focus, her gentle sweetness threatening his control. But he will not be tempted.

Poseidon’s scheming wreaks havoc upon Persephone. Hades has no choice – he must rescue her.

Hades awakens something within the Goddess Persephone. She feels no fear from his brooding presence. In truth, she’s never felt so alive. Every stolen moment together only confirms her instinct: he is meant to be hers. Such a powerful union suit will face opposition – from Olympus, her troubled betrothed, the Fates, even Hades himself – but she is determined to win his heart.

If you’ve read Book One, Medusa, A Love Story, you’ve met Hades… But this book is all Him – and Persephone, of course.
